Where to see a species
Six of the ten areas for the black howler monkey are World Heritage, the highest share in this family: Calakmul, Sian Ka'an and Tikal in the Maya forest, and Iguaçu, which appears three times — the Brazilian side, the Argentine side and the Brazilian national park. Iberá and the Maya Biosphere Reserve, at 21,129 km², complete the list.
Places come from reviewed species-place links; the species shown at each place are only those in this group.
