Where to see a species
The grey heron is the guide in this family with the widest distribution: seven wetlands in seven countries and four continents, from the Sumidero Canyon in Mexico to the Djoudj Bird Sanctuary in Senegal, by way of Diawling in Mauritania, Donau-Auen in Austria, the Curonian Spit, the Lençóis Maranhenses in Brazil and the Churute mangroves in Ecuador.
Places come from reviewed species-place links; the species shown at each place are only those in this group.
