Terms of service

1. Acceptance of the terms

By creating an account or using WAnimals (“the platform”, “we”) you accept these terms of service. If you disagree with any part of them, you should not use the platform.

2. What WAnimals is

WAnimals is a content and community platform about the animal kingdom: a species wiki, trip planning tools, an interactive map, forums, a blog and social features (sightings, wish lists, pet posts, following other members). The content is for information and entertainment; it is no substitute for professional advice from vets, certified guides or conservation authorities.

3. Your account

• You must give truthful information when you register and keep it up to date.
• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
• You must be at least 16 to create an account.
• You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time from your profile.

4. User content

When you post sightings, comments, photos, pet posts or forum messages, you keep ownership of your content but grant us a non-exclusive licence to display it within the platform. Do not post content that:

• Is illegal, defamatory, discriminatory or incites hatred.
• Infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
• Promotes poaching, wildlife trafficking or animal cruelty.
• Contains spam, malware or impersonation attempts.

We may remove content that breaks these rules and, in serious or repeated cases, suspend the account responsible. You can report inappropriate content from the content itself; the moderation team will review it.

5. Purchases in the WAnimals shop

The shop's products (T-shirts, hoodies and other merchandise) are sold directly by WAnimals. When you place an order you accept the following conditions:

• Prices are shown in euros. Shipping costs are calculated and shown before you confirm the order.
• Payment is processed through Stripe, an external payment provider; WAnimals never stores your card details.
• We ship to Spain and the rest of the European Union. Indicative delivery times are given during checkout and may vary with the destination.
• Right of withdrawal: you have 14 calendar days from receiving the order to withdraw from the purchase without giving a reason, under Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007. Personalised products are excluded from this right (for example, T-shirts or hoodies with a colour, size or design configured to your taste), as they are made to your specifications.
• Products carry the 3-year legal guarantee of conformity provided for in consumer law.

To exercise your right of withdrawal or request a return, write to us through the contact form quoting the order number.

6. Marketplace between users

The marketplace is a space where members can post listings to buy and sell items between themselves (second hand, swaps and so on). Unlike the shop, WAnimals does not sell these items:

• We act solely as a technical intermediary hosting the listings and the messaging between users. We take no part in payment, shipping or any other aspect of the transaction, and we are not a party to the contract of sale between buyer and seller.
• Each user is responsible for the truthfulness and legality of their listings, and for meeting their own tax obligations where applicable.
• Listings of protected species, animal parts or any item connected with wildlife trafficking or cruelty are forbidden, under the rules in section 4.
• Take great care in transactions between individuals: check the other person's identity, avoid sharing bank details outside secure channels and be wary of suspiciously good offers.

We accept no responsibility for disputes, breaches or fraud arising from transactions between users in the marketplace. You can report a suspicious listing or user from the listing itself so that our moderation team can review it.

7. Accuracy of the species content

We work to keep the wildlife, conservation and location information up to date and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it is free of errors. Before planning a trip on the strength of this information, check the details with official sources at the destination.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or cancel your access if you breach these terms, without prejudice to any other legal action that may apply.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will publish the new version on this page with the corresponding update date.
