The twenty-one red coral sites all lie in the Mediterranean and all share a season, May to October. Twelve are declared marine protected areas and three are World Heritage: the Amalfi Coast, the Aeolian Islands and the Scandola Reserve, in Corsica. Italy contributes nine and Spain five. The deepest is the Vis wreck, at 50 metres.
Places come from reviewed species-place links; the species shown at each place are only those in this group.
