The six sites for the southern right whale ring the southern hemisphere: three in Australia, one in South Africa, Ilha do Mel in Brazil and Puerto Madryn, on the Valdés Peninsula, where the season runs June to December. Water temperature ranges from 14 °C at Madryn to 20 at Ilha do Mel and Rottnest, and three of the six require advanced certification.
