The green turtle is endangered, and Indonesia documents it at 22 places, 21 of them dives. The list crosses the archipelago end to end: Bunaken off Sulawesi, the Gilis and Nusa Dua in Bali, Wakatobi, the Riung islands off Flores, Sangalaki and the Derawans in Borneo, the Anambas, the Widi Islands and Cenderawasih Bay in Papua. Two are World Heritage sites.
