Indonesia's third-largest national park, between the Banda Sea and the Flores Sea. The name is an acronym of its four main islands: Wangi-Wangi, Kaledupa, Tomia and Binongko. The archipelago brings together all three reef types — fringing, barrier and atoll — in a single destination, which is why its appeal is not one particular animal but structural variety.

Roma Reef owes its name to formations of disc coral (Turbinaria mesenterina) that resemble the Colosseum and are estimated to be around 300 years old. Blade is a seamount more than 200 m long and less than seven wide which, seen side-on, looks like the blade of a giant knife. Much of the local population is Bajau, the so-called sea nomads.
