The seven areas for the Iberian wolf are split almost evenly between Spain and Portugal, and all are mountain ranges: Somiedo, Redes and the Picos de Europa in the Cantabrian range; the Douro Internacional, transboundary; Peneda-Gerês and the Serra da Estrela in Portugal; and the Sierra de Guadarrama, the southernmost.
