Wildlife by group and country
Italy's twelve sites are all Mediterranean dives and six are declared marine protected areas. Four are active volcanic sites — the Aeolians appear twice, for Panarea and Stromboli and for Vulcano — and five are caves, with Capri's Blue Grotto the shallowest at 15 metres. Of the four species, the Atlantic bluefin tuna is endangered and the ocean sunfish vulnerable.
Places come from reviewed species-place links; the species shown at each place are only those in this group.
