Where to see a species
The seventeen places for the brown trout include the catalogue's three most remarkable freshwater dive sites: the Silfra fissure, at Thingvellir, where you dive between two tectonic plates; Loch Ness; and the Blue Lake at Nelson Lakes, in New Zealand. On land, Vatnajökull contributes 14,141 km² and Plitvice and Durmitor are World Heritage.
Places come from reviewed species-place links; the species shown at each place are only those in this group.
