Where to see a species
The fourteen wetlands for the greater flamingo follow Africa's Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean as far as the Persian Gulf: the Banc d'Arguin at 12,000 km², the Makgadikgadi pans at 3,900, the Camargue at 930 and Doñana at 543. Three are World Heritage, and the Al Areen and Sir Bani Yas reserves, in Bahrain and the Emirates, close the list to the east.
Places come from reviewed species-place links; the species shown at each place are only those in this group.
