Wildlife by group and country
The Pemba Channel drops to 50 metres and is an oceanic wall; the other three Tanzanian sites are shallow reefs of 25 to 30. Mafia Island is included for the whale shark, endangered, and Mnemba Atoll, off Zanzibar, for its reef. Of the five species, two are endangered and one is the stonefish, which is not sought out but avoided.
Places come from reviewed species-place links; the species shown at each place are only those in this group.
