Wildlife by group and country
Seven of the fourteen places are dives, and seven of the eight mammals are marine: six cetaceans and the New Zealand fur seal. Hector's dolphin is endangered. The eighth, the red deer, is the only land species and appears in the inland parks. Fiordland and Tongariro are World Heritage; Te Urewera holds legal personhood.
Places come from reviewed species-place links; the species shown at each place are only those in this group.
