Morne Diablotins

Declared in 2000, it protects Morne Diablotins, the highest peak in Dominica, whose name comes from the diablotin, or West Indian petrel, a seabird that once nested on its wooded slopes in great numbers until it was hunted intensively for its meat through the colonial centuries, drastically reducing its population on the island. The park also protects much of the remaining habitat of the imperial amazon, Dominica's national bird and one of the most threatened in the Caribbean.
