Declared in 1975, Odaesan holds Woljeongsa temple, founded in the 7th century by the monk Jajang on his return from studying Buddhism in Tang China, and reckoned one of the five great historic temples of Korean Buddhism, with a nine-storey octagonal pagoda from the 10th century designated a National Treasure of South Korea, standing within the park's own boundaries.
