The Korean brown frog is an amphibian of the streams and damp woodland of the Korean Peninsula, described as a species of its own in 2007 when it was separated from Dybowski's frog. It is medium-sized and brown-toned, and depends on well-preserved mountain streams to breed. Traditional rice fields are an important secondary habitat for it.

- It was described as a species of its own only in 2007, after years of genetic analysis separated it from other East Asian brown frogs with which it had been confused.
- Traditional Korean rice fields work as substitute wetlands for this and other species, and agricultural intensification and the shift to mechanised cultivation are shrinking that replacement habitat.
- The Korean Peninsula holds a notable diversity of amphibians and several endemic species, many of them described or redefined over the past two decades.
