Cathedrals (Lanai)

Lava cave
United States · Hawaii (Lanai)
Profundidad: 10–25 mNivel: Advanced Open WaterAll year round

Two lava tubes — Cathedral I and Cathedral II — turned into enormous chambers entered through vaulted arches. Light filters in through the openings in the rock and produces the stained-glass effect that gives the site its name. Second Cathedral is the larger, a tube of some 30 m with entrances and exits on all sides.

Lava formations with caverns lit by shafts of light that recall the stained glass of a cathedral.

Did you know
