Established in 2004 through a community management agreement with Niue's traditional landowners, the Huvalu forest preserves the island's largest remnant of primary rainforest. Hidden within it is the Togo Chasm, a formation of raised fossil coral pinnacles reminiscent of a miniature of the Malagasy tsingy, reached after a walk through the dense forest followed by a ladder descent into the coastal chasm itself.
