A threatened group in a country
Australia's eleven threatened marsupials are the only group of their kind in this whole family of guides. Two are critically endangered — the brush-tailed bettong and the northern hairy-nosed wombat — and among the four endangered are the Tasmanian devil, the numbat and the eastern quoll. The koala and the quokka close the list as vulnerable.
