A threatened group in a country
Six of Jordan's eight threatened reptiles are sea or freshwater turtles, and they reach a country with a single stretch of coast: hawksbill and green in the two worst categories, plus loggerhead, olive ridley, leatherback and the Spanish terrapin. On land remain the common tortoise and the Egyptian spiny-tailed lizard, the only lizard on the list.
