Wildlife by group and country
Five of Cuba's seven birds are endemic to the island or the Caribbean, and one of them — the Zapata rail, from the Zapata Swamp — is critically endangered. The bee hummingbird is the smallest bird in the world. Four of the seven parks are World Heritage and three are biosphere reserves; Zapata, at 4,520 km², is the largest.
