Bennett's Tree Kangaroo

Dendrolagus bennettianus

Near Threatened

It could become threatened in the near future if current threats go unchecked.

Spotted something wrong?

Bennett's tree kangaroo is the largest arboreal mammal in Australia and one of the country's two tree kangaroos, along with Lumholtz's. It lives in a very small area of north-eastern Queensland, north of the Daintree River. It feeds on leaves, vines and fruit in the canopy, and its short, broad hind feet, with roughened pads, are adapted to climbing rather than hopping. Its habitat is limited to a handful of rainforest massifs.
