A threatened group in a country
Ten of New Zealand's twelve threatened fish are sharks and rays, and six on the list are endangered: the spotted eagle ray, the shortfin mako, the gulper shark, the whale shark, the basking shark and the coho salmon. The tope is the only critically endangered case. Just two are bony fish.
