The coelacanth is critically endangered and appears here because of the submarine canyons of Sodwana Bay: it is the reason this list resembles no other. With it, the oceanic whitetip — also critical — the great white shark of False Bay, and the tiger and bull sharks of Protea Banks and Aliwal Shoal. Sodwana and Cape Vidal are World Heritage.
