Miraflor Nature Reserve

Declared in 1996, Miraflor is run entirely by local farming cooperatives, which combine growing shade coffee under the forest canopy with conserving fragments of primary cloud forest, a pioneering model of rural community tourism in Nicaragua where the farmers themselves offer accommodation and guiding on their family holdings.
