Declared in 1997, Yading protects three snow mountains — Chenrezig, Jampelyang and Chana Dorje — venerated in Tibetan Buddhism for more than 800 years as physical embodiments of three bodhisattvas, making the region a place of pilgrimage as well as of hillwalking, with lakes of an intense turquoise at their feet reflecting the sacred summits around them.
