Mexico's nine threatened birds split between three worlds: the arid north with the California condor, critically endangered; the forested south with the great green macaw — also critical — the military macaw, the great curassow and the horned guan; and the Pacific islands with the Guadalupe junco and Scripps's murrelet. Two swifts close the list.
