Threatened species by country
Of the ten threatened species documented in Switzerland, six live in fresh water: three fish, two crayfish and one mollusc. This is a landlocked country's list, which is why the two critically endangered ones are migratory fish — the European eel and the European sturgeon — rather than the large mammals that usually head these pages. There is a single bird, the common pochard.
