A threatened group in a country
All nine of Turkmenistan's threatened mammals belong to steppe, desert or mountain, without a single marine species despite its Caspian coast. The leopard and the snow leopard both appear, along with the Arabian oryx, the Nubian ibex, the urial and two gazelles. The Bactrian camel is the only critically endangered case.
