Protection status

Parque Nacional Galápagos (1959) y Reserva Marina de Galápagos (ampliada en 1998 hasta unos 133.000 km²). En 2016 se creó un santuario sin pesca en torno a Darwin y Wolf; en 2022 se sumó la Reserva de la Hermandad, corredor migratorio hacia Coco, Coiba y Malpelo

Patrimonio Mundial (Islas Galápagos, uno de los primeros bienes inscritos en 1978; la Reserva Marina se incorporó como extensión en 2001)
