Highlight

The Remarkable Rocks, sculpted by the wind over 500 million years, are one of the most photographed rock icons in Australia

Declared in 1919, Flinders Chase occupies the western end of Kangaroo Island and protects the Remarkable Rocks, a group of granite formations sculpted by wind and sea salt over more than 500 million years into almost surreal organic shapes, and now one of the most recognisable photographic icons of South Australia. The devastating bushfires of 2019-2020 burnt close to 96% of the park's area, though Australian vegetation, evolutionarily adapted to fire, has regenerated with notable speed in the years since.
