Thrumshingla

Declared in 1998, Thrumshingla (formerly Phrumsengla) marks the natural climatic divide between eastern and western Bhutan, crossed by the only lateral road linking the two halves of the country through the pass of the same name. It preserves large stretches of old-growth fir forest with no significant logging, thanks to the strict Bhutanese forest policy that requires at least 60% national forest cover by constitutional mandate.
