A threatened group in a country
Six of New Zealand's fourteen threatened birds cannot fly: three kiwis, the kakapo — critically endangered — the takahe and the weka. With the kea and the kaka, two parrots, they form a set that appears in no other guide of this family. Three albatrosses, two penguins and the bristle-thighed curlew complete it.
