Threatened species by country
Fifteen of Paraguay's twenty threatened species are mammals and only two are birds. The list covers the Chaco and the Paraná basin at once: Chacoan peccary and giant armadillo beside the Amazon river dolphin, the giant otter and the Amazonian manatee. The two critically endangered ones are the hooded grebe and the giant South American river turtle, and a spider closes it, the Chilean rose tarantula.
