An island of turquoise lagoons, beaches and steep hills, ringed by calm coral gardens and, further out, walls and canyons swept by current. Turtle Bay concentrates the reef fauna and is a turtle nesting site in August. On the southern face lies a wreck partly covered in coral.

A remote volcanic island famous for its historic peridot (olivine) deposits, reachable only on extended liveaboard expeditions.
Zabargad marine park, the largest in the southern Egyptian Red Sea
The name comes from olivine — peridot — the emerald-like green stone that was already being mined here in Pharaonic times. It is probably the only dive site in the Red Sea whose place name derives from a gem mine of antiquity.
