An inner arc of volcanoes with steep drop-offs and sloping reefs covered in hard coral, huge sea fans and giant sponges. The seamounts and volcanic islands push nutrient-rich water up from the depths. The most reliable sites for hammerheads are Ameth on Nusa Laut, Serua, Nil Desperandum and Manuk.

Did you know

Manuk se conoce como la 'isla de las serpientes' por su concentración inusual de serpientes marinas bandeadas y olivas, curiosas pero tranquilas si se las aborda con calma. Y el dato histórico: estas islas fueron la única fuente mundial de nuez moscada hasta mediados del siglo XIX. El volcán Komba, en la misma ruta, entra en erupción en estallidos luminosos cada 20-30 minutos, visibles de noche desde cubierta.
