Highlight

Ethiopia's oldest and most accessible national park, crossed by the Awash River and its spectacular falls

Declared in 1966, Awash is the oldest national park in Ethiopia and one of the easiest to reach from Addis Ababa. It is crossed by the Awash River, which within the park itself drops in a powerful waterfall surrounded by the volcanic landscapes of the Ethiopian Rift, cones and craters thrown up by the region's still-active tectonics.
