Bajo Zambeze (Lower Zambezi)

Declared in 1983, Lower Zambezi lies directly opposite Zimbabwe's Mana Pools National Park across the Zambezi, forming with it a virtually continuous transboundary riverine ecosystem through which wildlife moves freely between the two countries. It is celebrated for its canoe safaris, which let visitors drift silently up to herds of elephants drinking at the bank without the noise of an engine.
