Freycinet

Declared in 1916, it is one of the oldest national parks in Australia. Its most celebrated rock formation, a group of pink granite peaks known as The Hazards, frames Wineglass Bay, a beach of white sand and turquoise water repeatedly ranked among the ten best in the world by various international travel publications. It is one of the last significant mainland refuges of the Tasmanian devil, whose population across the rest of the island has been severely hit since the 1990s by a contagious facial tumour — one of the few transmissible cancers known in mammals — which has drastically reduced the species' total numbers.
