Declared in 1988, Hingol is the largest national park in Pakistan and combines coastal desert, mountains eroded into fantastic shapes and active mud volcanoes — one of the few such phenomena in South Asia — along with the Hindu temple of Hinglaj Mata, a shrine carved into a natural cave that draws tens of thousands of Hindu pilgrims each year on one of the most important religious pilgrimages in Pakistan, a majority-Muslim country.
