Declared in 2018, the Diego Ramírez-Drake Passage Marine Park is Chile's largest marine protected area, at the southern tip of South America, where the Pacific and Atlantic meet through the turbulent Drake Passage. Its lighthouse, run by the Chilean Navy, is the southernmost permanent human settlement on the whole American continent outside Antarctica itself.
