Volcanes de Kamchatka

Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 as a group of six protected areas, the Volcanoes of Kamchatka form one of the most active volcanic belts on the planet, with more than 300 volcanoes, 29 of them active today. The peninsula, extremely remote and with barely any human presence, supports one of the greatest concentrations of brown bear in the world, helped along by the abundant annual salmon runs in its untouched rivers.
