Five of Colombia's eleven threatened birds are parrots: the great green macaw — critically endangered — the military and hyacinth macaws, and two mountain parrots, the yellow-eared parrot and the Santa Marta parakeet. The rest are Andean or forest birds: the Andean condor, the Andean flamingo, the black-and-chestnut eagle and two curassows, the helmeted and the great.
