Every winter great hammerhead sharks gather in the shallows off South Bimini, on a white sand bank at about 6-12 m. It is one of the few places in the world with reliable encounters with this endangered species, and it is dived without a cage, on very shallow profiles that allow long bottom times. The rest of the archipelago offers reefs, walls, wrecks and blue holes.

El sistema de manglares de Bimini es una zona de cría importante para tiburones juveniles y sede de un laboratorio de investigación de tiburones de larga trayectoria. En temporada de martillos el agua está fresca para el Caribe y se recomienda traje de 5 mm con capucha y guantes. Frente a la isla está también el 'Bimini Road', una alineación de bloques calizos a unos 5-6 m descubierta en 1968 que alimentó la leyenda de la Atlántida.
