No es el original. El Cristo de los Abismos lo fundió el profesor Guido Galletti en 1954 por iniciativa del buceador italiano Duilio Marcante. Este de Cayo Largo es el tercer vaciado del molde de Galletti: lo encargó el fabricante italiano de material de buceo Egidio Cressi y lo donó a la Underwater Society of America. El segundo se colocó en 1961 en el puerto de San Jorge, Granada, en memoria de los rescatados del buque italiano Bianca C.
