One of the oldest rainforests in Africa, with over 60 million years of unbroken history

Declared in 1986, Korup protects one of the oldest rainforests in Africa, estimated at over 60 million years without major climatic interruption, which makes it an evolutionary refuge of exceptional biodiversity. It is one of the few known habitats of the Cross River gorilla, the most threatened gorilla subspecies in the world, with barely 300 animals left in total.
