Lamington

Declared in 1915, Lamington has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994 as part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, a set of forest fragments preserving plant lineages directly descended from the vegetation of the old supercontinent Gondwana, more than 180 million years ago. Its canopy walkway, built in the 1990s, offers one of the most accessible elevated views of subtropical rainforest in south-east Queensland, and its trails are celebrated among birdwatchers for Albert's lyrebird, a bird able to mimic with extraordinary accuracy both the calls of other species and man-made sounds, chainsaws and camera shutters included.
