Declared in 2006, Los Quetzales sits beside the Inter-American Highway on its highest stretch in Costa Rica, offering one of the easiest points of access in the country for watching the resplendent quetzal without having to book a private tour, thanks to the abundance in the area of the wild avocado trees the bird feeds on for much of the year.
