San Guillermo

Declared in 1998, San Guillermo protects an Andean altiplano with an exceptional altitudinal range, from 2,100 up to 6,400 metres, and holds one of the largest concentrations of wild vicuña in Argentina, a wild camelid whose fibre — among the finest and most valuable in the world — brought it to the edge of overexploitation before the park's strict protection allowed its populations to recover.
