Threatened species by country
Nine of Kyrgyzstan's twelve threatened species are mammals, and the list reads like a high-mountain inventory: snow leopard, urial, takin, Asiatic black bear, Alpine musk deer and Menzbier's marmot. The only critically endangered one is the Bactrian camel. There are just two birds — the houbara bustard and the western tragopan — and one reptile, the steppe tortoise.
